2026 National Civics Bee

Wednesday, May 13, 2026 Greater Latrobe High School Auditorium Join us for the local competition of the National Civics Bee, an exciting and educational event where students will demonstrate their knowledge of American history, government, and civic responsibilities! This competition offers young minds the opportunity to showcase their understanding of critical civic topics, including the U.S. Constitution, the structure of government, the rights and duties of citizens, and the history that has shaped the nation's political landscape. The event will bring together students from across the community, who will compete in a series of thought-provoking rounds, including multiple-choice questions, written essays, and live quizzes. Participants will be tested on their ability to answer questions that challenge their understanding of U.S. government systems, landmark Supreme Court cases, and the roles of federal, state, and local officials. 2026 Excellence in Education Banquet

The GLLV Chamber will host the 32nd Annual Excellence in Education Banquet to recognize outstanding area 2026 graduates from Derry Area, Greater Latrobe, and Eastern Westmoreland Career & Technology Center.This program salutes the top 5% of the graduating seniors in our local school districts, and will be held on Monday, May 18th, 5:30 p.m. at DeNunzio's Italian Chophouse at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. Our student honorees are asked to invite a teacher (from grades K - 12) who has made a positive difference in their educational achievement, to join us for this event. In order to make this program possible and demonstrate the support of local business and industry in our scholars, we are seeking sponsorships from local firms. A $200 sponsor fee will cover the cost of one student honoree, a teacher, one representative from your firm, plus some of the incidental costs associated with the banquet.
